Well what can I say about this venue, Haymains lodge is a stunning hidden gem in West Calder and is my new favourite venue! It is hidden on the grounds of Harburn House, where people can also get married, but the lodge has a converted granary and barn attached to it making it absolutely perfect for rustic, barn weddings – which is what Sophie and David were aiming for.
I joined Sophie in the lodge as she was getting ready with her bridesmaids. The sun was splitting the sky, it was definitely going to be a perfect day. I photographed Sophie’s lovely dress, shoes and flowers before catching a few moments of her getting her hair and make up done.
I headed outside as the boys arrived and got a few photos of them together. David was looking calm and ready to go 🙂
Sophie looked stunning as she came down the stairs and was feeling a bit nervous but her bridesmaids and flower girls were on hand to keep her calm. We got piped over to the Granary where the ceremony was taking place. It was a beautiful ceremony with a few lovely readings.
After the ceremony we stepped out into the glorious sunshine for drinks and group photos. We then jumped in my car and took a little drive around the grounds for some natural, romantic photos. There were so many perfect locations, bridges, woodlands, gardens – we had a great time going round them all.
We headed back to the barn for the speeches and dinner.
After dinner Sophie suprised David by singing from him – she is an amazing singer and she was backed up by a choir, it was a really special and personal moment.
I captured their first dance together and we headed back out for a few photos before the sunset as I always think the light is much better at this time.
I really love all the photos from this wedding and I hope that Sophie and David had a fantastic day too – congratulations!!!
