Date: 1st of August 2015
It was so nice for me to be back in my home town of Rothesay, Bute to photograph the wedding of Phil and Jo. In 2014 I had about 15 weddings here throughout the year but this was my one and only for 2015. I was excited to be back and working with some familiar faces.
I met Jo in the morning as she was getting ready at a local hotel. I photographed the dresses and flowers as she was getting her make up done. As always I pitched in and helped the girls into their dresses.Once the girls were ready I headed over to Rothesay Castle and met up with the boys. Phil and bestman Johnnie looked very smart in their kilts.
We had a little bit of rain as Jo arrived but nothing too serious. Some of the locals came out to see Jo in her beautiful dress.
Johnnie keeping Phil calm before the ceremony.
Jo looked simply stunning as she walked down the aisle and you could tell from the look on Phils face that he was thinking the same thing.
Just as the ceremony finished, the weather cleared up and we headed into the courtyard for photos.
The old chapel.
Jo’s beautiful flower bouquets were done by Flowers by Janine.
After the castle we headed out to the Kingarth Hotel for the reception.
It wouldn’t be a wedding on Bute without a stop at Kerrycroy pier. One of my favourite places to shoot. Unfortunately the heavy rain meant that we couldn’t get onto the pier for the mud but we made the most of it.
The bride and groom were piped to their reception by local piper Ross Hunter.
The Kingarth Hotel done an amazing job with the table decor – as always.
Out on the lawn games were set up for guests to play before dinner. I loved this shot of all the men in kilts running towards Phil, you can just see the fear on his face.
The speeches were very funny and full of emotion. Best man Johnnie added some drinking games to his speech.
Later in the evening I got Jo & Phil to come out for a few more photos. I chose a field just over the road from the hotel. It was the perfect setting.
A beautiful first dance.
The entertainment was provided by rock band – Man from Delmonte. To be honest they were one of the best bands I have seen at a wedding in a long time. Everyone was up on the dance floor for the whole night having a great time.
Finally Thank you so much to Phil & Jo for having me as their wedding photographer. I had an absolute blast throughout the day. A beautiful Rothesay Castle Wedding. Congratulations!
