Date: 7th June 2017
Venue: Culzean Castle, Scotland
It was only three weeks prior to their wedding date when I got an email from Angela explaining her situation. Her and her partner Matthew had decided to elope whilst they were travelling around in Scotland. Matthew and Angela both come from Wyoming, USA so it was a long way for them to travel.
After deciding against a big wedding they cut it all down so it was just the two of them, no guests, just them. Instantly I felt privileged to be able to capture and be part of their special day and what better way for them to spend it than in a gorgeous castle.
Angela’s dress was a Maggie Sottero design, beautifully details and elegant.
I was really excited to meet Angela and Matthew, they were both so friendly, welcoming and open to suggestions. I was a little early so Angela and I spoke for an hour or so. The conversation flowed so easily and I really enjoyed hearing about her life in America.
Angela is not big into make up or hair so she kept everything simple. I helped her into her dress before we headed downstairs to the drawing room.
Matthew was there and waiting for his beautiful bride.
Culzean Castle kindly provided witnesses and helped with the flowers.
Both of them looked so happy to be married.
After the ceremony we headed out through the ground of the castle for some photos. Angela and Matthew had an hour for photos, which was amazing for me!
With such beautiful grounds we had our pick of the castle, stables, bridges, gardens, woodland and beach. We used them all.
The sun shone as he headed down a steep path to the beach.
We got some gorgeous weather to finish the day with.
Beautiful flowers provided by Culzean Castle.
Thank you so much to Angela and Matthew for having me as their photographer. It was an absolute pleasure to meet them both! Wishing them all the very best for the future.
